ABOUT US - MAA-NULTH FIRST NATIONS COMMUNITY PROFILES

The Maa-nulth First Nations are made up of 5 First Nations from Vancouver Island, which include: Huu-ay-aht First Nations, Ka:’yu:’k’t’h’/Che:k’tles7et’h First Nations, Toquaht Nation, Uchucklesaht Tribe, and the Ucluelet First Nation. Maa-nulth means “villages along the coast” in the Nuu-chah-nulth language. These villages/territories are located on the west coast of Vancouver Island surrounding Barkley Sound and Kyuquot Sound. They have a combined population of approximately 2,000 people many of whom live near Bamfield, Port Alberni, Ucluelet, Campbell River, and in Kyuquot Sound.
